Lara Croft is back in a new animated series debuting exclusively on Turner Broadcasting's videogame-centric broadband network GameTap. The 10-part series, called
ReVisioned: Tomb Raider will vary in length episode to episode, though each installment will be at least several minutes long.
Some very notable talent is attached to the series, with Academy Award nominee Minnie Driver (
The Riches) voicing the iconic Lara Croft. As for those creating the episodes, they are a who's who of well-known comic book and fantasy writers and artists.
Aeon Flux's creator Peter Chung will be the man behind the first three-episodes, which will tell a connected story arc called "Keys to the Kingdom." After that, others will take over for single or multi-episode stories, with the series functioning as an anthology type take on Lara - the art style and storyline will vary depending on who is crafting each installment.
Among those taking part in the series are Warren Ellis (
Thunderbolts), Gail Simone (
Wonder Woman), Jim Lee (
All-Star Batman and Robin), Christos Gage (
Union Jack), Cully Hamner (
Blue Beetle), David Alvarez (DC Comics
Looney Tunes), Brian Pulido (
Lady Death), Louie Del Carmen (
Rugrats) and
Star Wars novel writer Michael A. Stackpole.
This will be the first of several new broadband series debuting on GameTap, all based on popular videogames. Announcements about future game adaptations haven't been made yet, but we'll let you know as more are revealed.
